After working in enterprise sales for companies like Oracle and IBM for many years, Ankur Srivastava (CEO and co-founder) and Alex Limeres (President and co-founder) knew that sales needed to be reinvented. The founding team members, including Samir Rajguru (CTO and co-founder) and Anil Koppisetti (SVP of Engineering), believe that the process of sales is a broken and wasteful one. The team spent two tireless years perfecting their platform before officially launching in 2017.
Sales cycles reborn
Traditional sales is largely dependent on good luck, and it requires 3-6 months of chasing leads in an attempt to connect with decision makers at enterprise companies. Corporations are spending over $9 Billion each year to replace sales representatives who separate from their employers and over $65,000 to recruit a new sales rep. Once a rep is onboard and connecting with buyers, many of them are missing out on opportunities to sell solutions to those existing contacts because they are limited to the products and services offered by a single employer. Sales professionals are often moved from one territory to another and find themselves hitting income caps in return for making high-volume sales. The founders of Swarmsales believed they could change it all- for the better. In January 2017, Swarmsales launched after receiving funding from Pierre Omidyar, the founder of eBay. In its first few months, the platform vetted and accepted over 1,000 sales professionals and 100 companies who wanted to engage those sales professionals. Those numbers grow have continued to grow month over month, making Swarmsales an immediate success.

More and more companies are finding that hiring and funding a sales team is no longer as financially secure as it once was. Many sales professionals are finding that moonlighting or independent sales for existing contacts gives them the freedom and income they want. Swarmsales enters the market with a business model and two-sided marketplace that makes sales more profitable for both sides, while enabling them to do more business with more companies.
